April ??, 1863
Dear Father
There is know
use in trying to get a discharge
nor a four lough for I am getting
along so well now they will think
there would be no use and if I
keep gaining as fast for a fort
night as I have been since I have
been hear I shall be able to do
some duty. Old Beacher told them
to put me on light duty the
other morning when I went
to get some medicine. the old
thief. no pa you need not send
me any money for I might
not get it and then I guess
I can make what I have
got last untill payday. No I
dont think that you could get
me away from hear if you
should come down hear
yes Capt Tucker knows what
he told you but Capt Tucker
cant do as much as he agread
to. be you going to do any thing
to your house this summer
wher is ___ going to set
his house. which one of warrens
horses was it that got killed
how much did he give for the
one he bought. how I wish you
could be hear to see the army
that just went up the bay
it was a big sight to behold between
20 and 30 regiments some cavelry
artillerry infantry and lots of
batterrys all along and if they
have good success we shall be
in Va. in less than 2 months
for they will take the troops right
north where it haint so hot well
I guess I have wrote enough
for this time so I will close write
as soon as you get this this
from your affectionate son
