Ever Dear Father and Mother
It is with a great
deal of pleasure that I take my
pen in hand to write you a few lines
in answer to you most welcomed
letter of Feb. 1t and 11th which I received
last saturday and should have answered
then but Ihad written you the day
before. You cant imagine how
well it made me feel to get a letter
from home once more it put new
life right into me. I am not verry
well nor haint been for 2 or 3 days I
am threatened with the fever but nuthing
dangerous I guess. I suppose we start
for the reg. tonight or in the morning
I suppose that we are off now sure ___
I like to have forgot to say that
I hope these few lines would find you
all well and enjoiing yourselves tip
top but I suppose it will do just
as well now

flostrated

to Old Point but the other one and
Henrys I never got I suppose they are
to the reg I answered the one I got no
I never got the paper you sent. I understood
this morning that the boys have been
doing some big fighting up to
Vixburg --and they say Washington--
--is taken-- it is real rainy nasty
weather down hear now it rains
most all of the time it is getting
to be pretty warm weather down

high and sweet potatoes kneehigh
that is doing pretty well for this time
of year. the best of cows dont give
more than 2 quarts of milk in
the best of the season haint that
a ___. I walked down to Fort
Jackson 5 miles below hear
and back which mad me 10 mile
which is the farthest I have walked
before in over 2 months. I had
some good warm biscuit and cabbage
hash for my dinner
but it was more than I had
ought to have done for I have not
been verry well since. Jud is well
he eats his 12 oringes a day (when
they dont cost nuthing and that is about
everry day) and then lays in his tent
and stinks worse than any old fatting
hog he is the most noted stinker
on the camp ground. have you ever

either of them and have allmost
given up getting any answer from
them. No you kneed not send me treats

office than he was when he wrote

Galutia York
dont for god sake worry about
me for I shall take just as good
care of myself as I can and I shall
come home again I am pretty sure
for I feel it in my bones and
I am in hopes the time is
not far distant. I am not
homesick at all.
