letters.
November 21, 1862
Nov 21 now I will try and finish
my letter it rains real hard
to day it is the first rain
that has fell since we
have been on this boat
they dont have much rain
down hear the reason of
my waiting so long before
writing this time was bec
ause I wrote to you last
Saturday and then I was
expecting to get my pay so
I could send my money
the news come last night
that we had got to and help
take Charlestown if we do
we shall see some big fighting
perhaps some of us will see
the last fighting they ever
will we have seen our
best times I guess yes I read
my bible I have read a consiter
able but I cant tell how far
yes I should think that Hoxie
would make business ache how
much does he get a month there
haint much danger of his being
drafted now is there George Hays
went ashore yesterday after he
got his pay and spent it all
but his check and 3 dollars I
think he done well we got our
pay up to the first of this month
there is about a months pay back
how does the morgan get along
no mother I dont ___ hard
towards anyone because the
box did not come I was as much
to blame as anyone for if you
had of sent it I should have had
time to have got it half a dozen
times just as well as not
well I have wrote about
all that I can think of this
time so I must close write
as soon as you get this so
I can get it before we go from
hear direct to Fortress Munroe

Henry I will answer your letter
as soon as I get it
my love to you all
so good by for this time
if you can read this you
will do well for I have to
stand up and hold this on
my knees to write
The ___ ___ not ___ to send
their money so I will send this
for I dont want to wait any longer
before I send a letter to you
They will probably send to
morrow it will go to ____
hamilton and it will be quite
a while before you will get
it studdy this out if you
can for it is quite a mixed
up mess
