Camp Belger Nov 4th 1862
Dear Brother
It is with great
pleasure that I set down
to answer your most welcomed
letter of the 30th which I
received about half an hour
ago I am well and in good spirits
and I hope this will find
you the same we are on
Camp Belger again
-----
regiment is all together
for battalion drill as soon
as we drill a little we are
going off somewhere on
a long expedition we
expect to go to Texas they
are ---
boats for us as soon as they
are ready we shall move
it is calculated to go to
New York City first and
thence the lord knows for
I dont has that box started
if it haint started dont send
it for I dont think we shall
get it if you send it
if you have sent it did
you send it by express if
you sent it by frait I dont
think we shall get it for
we shall start before long
I am verry sorry to think
I have put you to the
trouble I have for nothing
send my socks and mittens
by mail for a letter comes
through in 2 days and
I should be pretty apt to
get them a man dont know
one minute what he is a going
to do the next they may flar
up and not go at all but
I think not I dont know
whether I could shoot a rebbel
or not for I never shot my
gun but we are going at
it tomorrow they are
going to put us right through
the picker now I should
like to have stoped into
the school house when
you was having your
___ perhaps I should
if had known anything
about it I dont think I
can come home Saturday
night for the horse I hired
was taken lame the other
night I had a letter from
Grandma night before last
she is well I guess that you
need not send my flute I
will make you a present
of that yes I got the pencil
that come in that paper
no I dont want you to
take my place you are
better off to home I would like
a pair of gloves but I cant by them
hear and not run the risk
of sending them although
they will cost me some more
tell ma it would take
me 2 days to come home
and it would cost me 8 or 10
dollars what is the reason
you have not got your falls
work along better did you
burn any coal this fall
I thank you verry much for
them two postage stamps you
sent me for I had not got one
before I got them we have not
got our pay yet the captains
have first been making speeches
dan is going to write some and
put in this I have wrote about
all that I can think of this time
