Isaiah M. Charlton, the second director of the New York State
School of Agriculture at Morrisville, was born in Nova Scotia in 1876.
He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at
Colgate University, earning a bachelor's degree in 1910 and a
master's degree in 1912. As an original faculty member, Mr. Charlton
became director in 1917. His directorship was marked by the physical
growth of the campus. Land was purchased in the village,
and the college was poised for future expansion.
