Frank G. Helyar
1910 - 1917
Dr. Frank Helyar was the first director of the
New York State School of Agriculture at Morrisville.
He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1883 and
attended high school in Brattleboro, Vermont. After
graduating from the University of Vermont, he served in
various positions before coming to Morrisville. During
his tenure as director, he was responsible for inaugurating
new programs, hiring the first faculty, and establishing
the basic philosophy of the new institution.
