Soldiers & Sailors Monument
Rededication, September 2, 2001

In 1910, the Soldiers & Sailors Monument at Clinton Square, Syracuse, New York, was dedicated. In attendance were Civil War veterans, the Vice President of the United States, Thomas S. Sherman, and dignitaries from across the state.

In the year 2001, this monument was renovated and a rededication ceremony was held on September 2. In honor of this event the Onondaga County Civil War Round Table is offering a special first day cover depicting an image of the medallion struck in 1910. The cancellation depicts Sgt. William Lilly, 149th NYSV, mending the flag at Culp's Hill, Gettysburg.
