George Washington Mead enlisted at the age of 19 at Greenwood, N.Y. to serve for 3 years.
He mustered in as a private in Company H on October 24, 1861.
He was wounded in action on July 2, 1863 at Gettysburg, Pa.
He transferred to the Veteran Reserve Corps on Feb. 15, 1864.
