Edwin Rose

from the Oswego Commercial Times, 16 January 1863:

         DEATH OF COL. ROSE.---The many
friends and acquaintances in this city of
Col. EDWIN ROSE, formerly commander of
the 81st Regiment, will regret that he is
dead.  He died at Jamaica, L.I., last Tues-
day, after an illness of only one hour, from
dropsy of the heart.  At the time of his
decease he was Provost Marshal of the
first congressional district of this State.---
Col. R. was universally beloved and respect-
ed by all who knew him; and by none
more ardently than the members of the
81st Regiment, the command of which he
was forced to resign on account of his
health.
