Aug the 4th 1863
Dear friends I will rite
a few lines to let you now
how I am geting along I think
I am on a gain and
I hope that theas few lines will
find you all well I wallk
around some but not much
our regiment is going of on
an expidition again to galveston
I spose they are wayting for
transports to take them of now
they have ben on a tilt every
since the first of april and they
keep at it yet I think they
ought to let them rest some
now and take some of the rest
of the brigades for a while
for they have had a fairly tough
time of it they have ___
still about one month
since the first of april
things is some ___ than
they was before the ___ was
open this hospital is fool
again and running over why
dont you rite to me I have
not had a leter from you
in a long time you now
that I cant rite much
for it is all that I can
do to set up iney at all
wee have got a bathman for
our ___ he is pirty good
one I think how do they git
along drafting up there tell
me who is in the york
tell them that there is
not much to do now it
is lite buisness and a
few more men will make
it so much liter and
the soner it is done
the beter it will be
for they are all of the
time fortifing more and
more how does marth like
to work for ole one eye how
does ___ ___ git along
does Charles Cole ___ ___ ___
has father ben over to see him
yet how does ole bill git
along is he tough now days
tell that old frend to
rite to me and let me now
how the young folks git along
how does harry git along
well there is not muth more
to rite now as I can think
of and I am giting tired
to so I gess that I will
stop where I am for the
present this is rote with
a gold pen and a trembling
hand when you git this
pleas rite if I do
not git it tell all of
the inquiring frends if
iney that I give them my
