Death of Colonel A. D. Adams. Alexander D. Adams, formerly Colonel of the 27th New York Volunteers, died at his residence in Lyons, New York, on the 28th ultimo, of consumption. Colonel Adams joined the regiment at its organiz- ing, as Captain of Company B, and was promoted to its Colonelcy as a reward for meritorious conduct. After he left the army, at the close of the war, until com- pelled by failing health to retire, he occu- pied the position of Principal of the Lyons Union school. Many of the veterans of the 27th, who live in this county, will learn of his death with regrets.
