Alonzo Alden

   Gen. ALONZO ALDEN died at his home in
Troy, N.Y., yesterday from paralysis. Gen.
Alden was prominent in Grand Army cir-
cles, having commanded a brigade in the
civil war. He was known as "the hero of
Fort Fisher," having been severely wounded
in this action while leading his brigade.
