OBITUARY NOTES.
Special Treasury Agent A.M. Barney died at
the Grand Union Hotel, this city, yesterday morn-
ing. Mr. Barney was a gallant soldier during the
war and rose to the rank of Brevet Brigadier-Gen-
eral. He was in the service of the Treasury Depart-
ment for more than 20 years, first as Collector of
Customs at Brownsville, Texas, then as Collector of
Internal Revenue for the same district, and finally as
a Special Agent, which latter position he had held
for about 15 years.
