Madison Mott Cannon

                    OBITUARY.
 Madison M. Cannon, recently acting acting Chief Clerk
of the Public Stores, died on Thursday aged fifty-two
years. He was a native of Orange County, N.Y.  He
served in the army from 1861 to 1865. He entered
the Customs Service in 1876 as a clerk, and was pro-
moted through the various grades to an acting chief
clerkship.
