General Nicholas Wyckoff Day.
Brig. Gen. Nicholas Wyckoff Day, a
veteran of the civil war and connected
with Schieffelin & Co., wholesale drug-
gists, until his fatal illness, died on
Monday at his home, 30 State Street,
East Orange, N. J., in his seventy-eighth
year. He was born in New Brunswick,
N. J., and when a young man removed
to this city. At the beginning of the
civil war General Day enlisted in the
Seventy-first Regiment, later being pro-
moted to Colonel of the One Hundred
and Thirty-first New York Volunteers.
In 1864 he was brevetted Brigadier Gen-
eral for bravery.
