        Gen. Mott Dead.
  NEW YOEK, Nov. 26.--A cable dis-
patch from Toulon [France] announces the
death of Gen. Thaddeus Phelps Mott,
the last surviving son of the celebrated
physician, Dr. Valantine Mott. Gen.
Mott was generally known as the
"fighting general." He fought with
Garibaldi in Italy, with McClellan in
America, with the Turks and Egypt-
tians in Europe and Asia. He was born
on December 7, 1831, in New York city.
Gen. Mott was the recipeint of many
decorations from many foreign coun-
tries for valuable services.
