Brig. Gen. George F. Nichols. Special to the New York Times. PLATTSBURG, N.Y., Jan. 18.--Brig. Gen. George F. Nichols, a veteran of the civil war, was found dead in bed this morning from heart disease. He was 82 years old. He served as Major and Colonel of the 118th New York Volun- teers to the end of the civil war. He was brevetted for gallant conduct at Fort Harrison, where he was severely wound- ed. He was also twice wounded at Drury's Bluff.
